Catalina Retrofit Window Installation

PLEASE READ CAREFULLY PRIOR TO INSTALLATION AND FEEL FREE TO CALL BEFORE YOU GET STARTED IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS.

CATALINA RETROFIT WINDOWS TO REPLACE ALUMINUM-FRAME WINDOWS

After careful consideration, we decided to create an assembly that uses an industry accepted
seal that also allows for easy clean up. We would appreciate your feedback after you've
installed the assembly and again after a year's time to help us continuously improve this
product.

Please disassemble and assemble one window first to learn from it. Then complete only the
port or starboard side next. Please contact us before starting the second side to request any
needed screws.

1. On the exterior, use a pencil and make six 1/2" offset marks around the four sides (two
above, two below and one at each end) of the original aluminum frame of each window to provide a reference to align the new windows. As you progress to each window, sight down
all windows to maintain alignment. Remove the old window and clean the surface of the
gelcoat. Acetone may be used on the gel coat. Do not contact the acrylic windows with
acetone.

2. Position the first window by aligning equidistant to the pencil marks. Hold the window in
place with temporary tape. Draw a pencil line around periphery of new window. Apply
masking tape to outside edge of this pencil line, this will ease in removing extra butyl tape later.

3. Check alignment of window and begin drilling.

4. Use drill fixture provided. Screw hole size and depth is pre-set by this fixture. This fixture is self-centering in the predrilled holes in the windows.

5. Remove the window and place the butyl tape from the inside edge of the rough opening overlapping some onto the masking tape. Find a hole at each end of the window (they will be hidden by the butyl tape) by inserting the original drill or screw through the pre-drilled holes in
the new window WITHOUT CONTACTING SEAL TAPE. Once aligned, lightly press
window against butyl tape and then install the screws. Tighten screws lightly until they just
contact window. Do not overtighten, the seal will flow into any voids, go around and check
screw head contact a second time as window adheres to seal.

6. Remove window tape as you cut just behind the window angling in just a little with a razor blade. As the butyl tape seal sets, some extrusion may occur and require another round of trimming.

7. The inside facias when installed with four #4 screws should not contact the interior window. Excess facia that may touch the window may be sanded off.
